Margaret & HP, Natte Valleij

Margaret and HP were introduced to each other by mutual friends. Their story kicks off as a logistical nightmare – with one situated in Pretoria (and later, even worse, Garies) and the other in Stellenbosch, Margaret did not really have high hopes for this new venture. But, as we all know, once the pot finds its lid there are few excuses big enough to keep one from the other.

After many months of travelling to and fro, absence did indeed succeed in making the heart grow even fonder and HP popped the question on their two year anniversary with a ring they both designed.

They chose Natte Valleij as the venue for their big day – a wine farm situated against the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain with a homestead, wine cellar and brandy distillery all packed with historical charm. Echoes of the thoroughbred studs that once roamed this area are still reflected in the rustic décor found in the old Manor house.

Natte Valleij served as the perfect location to combine both Margaret and HP’s unique personalities. They both DIY’ed quite a bit for this magnificent event – HP made the 24 wooden ottomans by himself which Margaret femme’d up with her own cushions. She also collected all of the jars for the floral arrangements and made the bunting herself. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz served at the reception was also made by the couple. Margaret’s mother contributed by making the bridesmaids’ dresses and the marmite-and-cheesecake wedding cake.

A special mention is justified for Beanstalk and Koester events for spinning the golden thread that pulled this whole day together with tasteful finesse.

Congratulations Margaret and HP – may this special day be a reflection of great things to come.
